So the other night during my shift at work, when I wasnt busy I started on my ideas for my fairy gardens. At the moment I have two ideas in mind, both of which I have seen on Pinterest made by other people. Pinterest is my main source of inspiration at the moment, but hopefully once I've made one garden I should be able to become a bit more inventive.
The first idea is a fairy garden in a broken terracotta pot. This is a widely known fairy garden, as its making use of what's in and around the garden and makes it even more believable that a fairy would take up residences there. This is what I've sketched (it's no Monet)
The picture quality is a bit dark as it was taken at 2am. My idea hopefully for this garden, would be for the pot to have a big chunk out of the front, so it can become a set of stairs leading up to the top. Now this fairy garden is more at the high price range of fairy real estate, as it it comes with a lovely white picket fence, and a fabulous (but not one of a kind) one bedroom house. There is a south facing front garden, which contains a rustic tree table and chairs and a lovely stone path. Unfortunately, as there is no back garden, the washing line has to be in view.
The second idea is a garden in a teacup and saucer, which is more of a shabby chic style of living. This idea I also saw on Pinterest by a blogger named Pixie Hill http://blog.pixiehill.com/2012_07_01_archive.html all her creations are beautiful and are a brilliant source of inspiration. Here is my sketch:
It's along the same lines as the terracotta garden, in so much as the layout but does have a few different design features. It's a bit more elegant in its approach, meaning that we have no laundry hanging out for every common fairy to see. I mean, you never know when a naughty gnome wants to steal your undergarments. Also there is no access from the ground, it's only a fly in zone, so it does kinda of determine who visits this particular fairy. There is a few toadstools for decoration and also a lovely bench. I see this more as sophiscated fairies house.
Now that I have done these two designs I think I will show my manager so she can decide which one she would like for her garden.
Update: Having spoken with my manager who I am making this specific garden for, she feels that the teacup design would be ideal for the fairies residing in her garden. I quite agree as it has a very up market feel about the place.
I plan on looking for materials to start building the garden this week, but I'm not going to rush into this project. I want it to be perfect.
Kat :)
